When you enable BNB fee deduction on Binance, the fee calculation process happens automatically at the moment your order is filled. Here is a clear breakdown of how it works.
Standard Fee Without BNB
For a standard spot trade on the BTC/USDT pair at a 0.1% taker fee rate, if you buy 1 ETH worth 3,000 USDT, your fee is 0.001 ETH (0.1% of 1 ETH received). The fee is deducted from the asset you receive.
Fee Calculation With BNB Deduction
When BNB deduction is enabled, Binance applies a 25% discount to the fee and then converts the discounted fee amount into BNB at the current market rate. Using the same example: 0.1% fee × 75% = 0.075% discounted fee. Binance then calculates the BNB equivalent of 0.00075 ETH at the current ETH/BNB price and deducts that amount of BNB from your Spot Wallet.
Why the Displayed Fee May Differ Slightly
Because Binance calculates fees at order fill time using an average rate rather than the exact spot price at that precise second, there can be a slight difference between the estimated fee shown when placing an order and the actual BNB deducted. This is normal and is noted in Binance's official documentation.
What Happens If BNB Balance Is Too Low
If your BNB balance is less than the amount needed to cover the discounted fee for a particular trade, Binance will charge the full standard fee in the quote currency or received asset for that trade. It will not charge partial BNB. Keeping a BNB cushion of at least a few dollars in your Spot Wallet prevents this situation.
Viewing Your BNB Fee History
You can review all fees paid in BNB by navigating to Orders > Trade History in your Binance account. Each entry shows the fee asset (BNB) and exact amount deducted, making it easy to track your total savings over time.
